INVISTA Martinsville supports Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department

Martinsville, Va. (April 3, 2008) - The Martinsville INVISTA site recently made a donation to the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department (VFD). The contribution will be used towards fire fighting equipment such as fire gear (PPE), GPS to obtain longitude and latitude coordinates for helicopter landing zones and for directions to emergency sites, newer and more efficient self-contained breathing apparatus air packs, foam for more effective fire extinguishing, lighter and easier to use extrication equipment, and training equipment.

"The Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department is a key component to the Martinsville site," said Ed Page, Ridgeway mayor and INVISTA employee. "INVISTA and its predecessor company have had a partnership with Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department that dates back to its origin in 1957."

"INVISTA brings value to the community in a variety of ways. In addition to providing financial support, its employees also volunteer their time and talents."

Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department, located in Ridgeway, VA, is a volunteer fire department consisting of approximately 40 volunteer firefighters. Each firefighter must complete approximately 150 hours of training initially and continue their education. The company has been in operation for over 50 years and serves 55 square miles of the area. The company is the first responder for the INVISTA site.
